A former rugby player dad recorded a hilarious voiceover for his beauty star daughter’s makeup vlog.
It’s definitely not what you’d expect to hear when you click on vlogger Sinead Cady’s tutorial, but the Oldham accent from former British and Irish international Des Foy definitely adds something to the footage.
The 28-year-old’s Youtube channel, TheMakeUpChair, has nearly a million subscribers and has dozens of videos providing makeup tips and tricks.
This particular clip originally went live in December as the “Birthday Makeup Tutorial,” but Des decided to put her own twist on it and put a smile on her daughter’s face.
And it worked, not just for Sinead but for us as well.
In Des’s brilliant commentary, he just says what he can see, and like the majority of fathers when it comes to makeup, he doesn’t seem to know what he’s talking about.
“I don’t know what it is, she looks confused too, she dabs it though, dabbing, dabbing again, dabbing.”
Going to contouring Des appears even more confusing.
“Ohh, what is it now?” A block of cheese or something. Ohh turned all yellow, it’s an unusual event now, what’s going on here? “
He later adds, “I have no idea what’s going on now, it just looks like tons of paint on top of things. “
Sinead, who grew up in Oldham before moving to County Cork in Ireland, says both parents have always been very supportive of his career.
She said, “The story behind him creating the video really came about because my dad is naturally funny and always comments on TV shows which makes us all laugh at home, so my sister and I thought that we would make her do the same for one of my makeup tutorials.
“He did the voiceover in one take and hasn’t even seen the video before, it’s totally natural!
“I’ve been doing this since 2010 and I’m still wrong about the voiceover, but I just set up the microphone and hit play and he just did what he does best.”
Sinead added, “My dad is just such a good sport, always ready to help his four kids, he’s such a great dad, so I love that I was able to share that with my almost a million followers. In fact, they asked him to do it regularly because he made them all laugh so much!
